The Shire is excited to announce that it has secured an additional $1.55 million in funding from LotteryWest, bringing the final project budget to an impressive $3.6 million, including contributions from the Shire.

This significant boost in funding will enable the Shire to move forward with the development of a state-of-the-art All Abilities Playground, a project that promises to provide an inclusive and engaging play space for all community members. The Shire is in the final stages of contract negotiations with a highly reputable contractor, known for their extensive experience in constructing All Abilities Playgrounds.

“We are thrilled to have secured this additional funding from LotteryWest,” said Shire President, David Menzel, “This project is a major step towards creating a more inclusive community, and we are excited to see it come to fruition.”

The contract for the playground development is expected to be awarded by the end of this month. Once the contract is in place, the contractor will begin the detailed design process, engage with stakeholders, and commence manufacturing the playground equipment. Construction is scheduled to begin after the wet season, ensuring optimal conditions for the build.

“The upcoming All Abilities Playground will be a fantastic addition to our community, providing a space where everyone, regardless of ability, can play and interact,” Cr Menzel added.

The Shire looks forward to working closely with the contractor and stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of this project, which will greatly enhance the recreational facilities available to the community.
