Baby Tree Program

The purpose of the Baby Tree Program is to build a sense of belonging and community spirit through recognising babies born within the Shire.

Each year, the Shire plants a Boab tree along the avenue to swim beach and in the reserve next to the Wyndham Shire Administration Office. A plaque is then installed with all the registered baby’s names and dates of birth that were born within the Shire the previous year. Families are also given a Boab seedling to take home and plant in their own gardens.

Council has adopted the Policy POL-3003 Baby Tree Program, with the intent to acknowledge and consider this history, as well as provide guidelines to achieve the benefits of the program in the most effective and sustainable manner.
